Marathon Training #1 – “This Is Hard Work!”

As I mentioned previously, I’m not a runner. My exercise routines consist of gentle yoga, and hikes with the kids. You can read all my reasons for deciding to train for a marathon in my previous post.

I hate to start out complaining, but, this is hard work! On my first ¾ mile run, I had to stop and stretch four times. My sister Kara, who has done this before, assures me that this will get easier.

My training schedule is four times per week. One long run on the weekend that will start at one mile and increase one mile per week until we reach 22 – 24 miles. Mid-week will include one “half-long” run which will be half of the long run. The other two runs will consist of short 20 – 30 minute runs.

You can view my training progress below.

You can track your own activity (including biking and swimming) at www.LogYourRun.com.
