5 Reasons to Keep Coconut Oil Capsules in Your Bathroom

CoconutOilSoftI’m obsessed with coconut oil. A few weekends ago, I had friends over my house and one of them told a story about a co-worker who use coconut oil for EVERYTHING. Both of my roommates pointed at me and started laughing! I love coconut oil so much that I go through it very quickly (good thing I work at Perfect Supplements). I usually keep a jar of coconut oil in my kitchen and a bottle of coconut oil capsules in my bathroom.

So why the capsules in the bathroom? I’ve found that one capsule of coconut oil is the perfect amount for numerous beauty tasks. Simply pierce the capsule with nail scissors and rub the oil between your hands until it becomes liquid. No mess, no fuss, no dirty spoons. If you try any of the following, I am positive you’ll end up keeping coconut oil capsules in your bathroom just like me! I am constantly finding new and cool ways to use the capsules but here are my favorites.

1. Eye Make Up Remover –

Nothing removes stubborn eye liner and mascara like coconut oil. Like all of the uses on this list, one capsule of coconut oil is the perfect amount. Simply empty the capsule and rub the oil between your hands until it becomes a liquid then wipe the oil off your hand with a piece of toilet paper, a cotton ball, or a facecloth. Rub eyes gently until make up breaks down and wipes away. When you are finished, your makeup will gone and the delicate skin around your eyes will be moisturized and baby soft.

2. Lash Serum –

400I’ve found that using coconut oil as an eye makeup remover has made my eyelashes longer and thicker. And when you dab some coconut oil on a cotton ball and wipe your eye lashes before applying mascara, your eyelashes come out five times thicker and longer, and the mascara is easier to apply.

3. Frizz Tamer –

Now I’m going to begin by telling you what I’ve learned; do not use coconut oil as a frizz tamer near your roots. It just doesn’t work. Not matter how little you use, it looks greasy. Don’t try it. But, I highly recommend working a tiny, tiny, tiny bit of coconut oil into the middle to ends of your hair. I’ve even put a tiny bit of coconut oil in the ends up my hair, sprayed with a bit of natural hairspray, and twirled my hair into sections. If you run a straightener over the twirls, easy loose curls form and last throughout most of the day.

4. Split End Repair / Prevention –

I work a tiny bit of coconut oil into my hair before I straighten it. This not only prevents the straightener from causing new split ends, it also works as a hot oil treatment to repair the split ends you already have. You only need a tiny amount; I only use about half a capsule for this purpose.

5. Moisturizer –

Coconut oil is an amazing moisturizer that all skin types can benefit from. Because it is antibacterial and antimicrobial, coconut does not cause breakouts. Dry skin soaks coconut oil up and oddly enough, coconut oil works to correct combination to oily skin just as well.  Skip the toxic and expensive department store moisturizers and use what nature gave us.
