Homemade Coconut Oil Beauty Products

Beauty products are expensive. And most of the time, they are filled with artificial ingredients and chemicals that may do more harm than good. If you want to pamper yourself without emptying your wallet or exposing yourself to toxins, simply make your own.

Coconut Lime Sugar Scrub
1 cup of Raw Sugar
1/3 cup of Coconut Oil
1 tbsp. of Fresh Lime Juice

Directions: Combine all ingredients in a small bowl and mix well. Store the mixture in an airtight container. This sugar scrub is a great exfoliator as well as a great moisturizer. It also smells amazing and makes a wonderful gift.

Coconut Beach Hair Spray
2 cups of Hot Water
1 tbsp. of Sea Salt
1 tbsp. of Coconut Oil

Directions: Combine ingredients in a spray bottle and shake well. Spray on to wet or dry hair and scrunch for that ‘just left the beach’ look. This spray has a subtle tropical beach smell as is, but you could add essential oils to achieve whatever scent you desire.

Body Butter Shower Bars
1 cup of Shea Butter
1 cup of Coconut Oil
1 cup of Beeswax Chips
2 tbsp. of Almond Oil
Silicone Mold

Directions: Combine the shea butter, coconut oil, and beeswax chips in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave, stirring every 30 seconds, until the mixture is fully melted and thoroughly mixed. When the heating process is complete, add almond essential oil and stir one last time. Pour into mold and refrigerate overnight (or at least six hours). After washing, use this bar in the shower to moisturize, gently rinse and then air dry. Depending on the size of your mold, you are likely to end up with more than one bar. Keep one near your bathroom for daily use. The extras can be stored in the refrigerator or wrapped in wax paper and given as gifts.
