Fall is the Perfect Time to Support Local Farms

Fall is the perfect time to support local farms. After all, Apple Crisp always tastes a little better when you’ve picked the apples yourself. The Jack-o’-Lantern  always glows a little brighter when you’ve guessed the weight of your hand-picked pumpkin, and we can all agree that nothing says Fall like missing the Patriot’s game because you’re long lost in a family carved corn maze.

During the months of September through November, many local farms offer reasonably priced pumpkin and gourd picking, apple picking, hay rides and corn mazes. Some farm stands even serve hot apple cider and homemade apple pie. Although Perfect Supplements supports local farms year round, the Fall produce picking season might be our favorite.

The best way to support local farms year round is by buying local dairy, meat and produce. If you don’t have any family farm connections, try visiting a local farmer’s market. Not only can you pick up fresh produce, you may be able to make a few connections that will allow you to buy directly from the farmer in the future. While you’re at it, ask the local farmers if their farms offer any Fall activities.

Another way Perfect Supplements supports local farms (and you can too!) is by donating to worthy causes and organizations such as Farm Fresh RI. This non-profit organization is dedicated to preserving Rhode Island farmland and reducing the impact of farming on our local environment.
