Finding The Correct Dosage for Green Coffee Bean Extract

In our article on Choosing The Best Green Coffee Bean Extract Supplement we covered how to decipher supplement labels to find the absolute best green coffee bean extract. Even once you find the best Green Coffee Bean Extract, there is still another challenge – figuring out the necessary dosage of green coffee bean extract needed to lose weight.

What Is The Correct Dosage of Green Coffee Bean Extract?

That’s easy – the exact amount of Green Coffee Bean extract that helps you lose weight, and not a milligram more! Okay, that is not a great answer, but there is no absolute right dosage of Green Coffee Bean extract. While everyone is different and the proper dosage can vary slightly from person to person, we can look at the science and provide some guidelines on the best dosage for Green Coffee Bean extract.

Using Science to Determine The Proper Dose of Green Coffee Bean Extract

The most cited study on Green Coffee Bean extract and weight loss is The University of Scranton study that was published in the Diabetes and Metabolic Syndrome Obesity Journal, a real can’t put it down, page turner of a journal!

In the study, they actually used two different dosages of Green Coffee Bean Extract. The low dose group got 350mg twice a day (total of 700mg of Green Coffee Bean Extract per day). The high dose group got 350mg three times a day (total of 1050mg of Green Coffee Bean Extract per day). Both groups, the low dose and high dose green coffee bean group lost weight!

The above data tells us you probably want to take at least 350mg twice a day.

Does More Green Coffee Bean Extract Mean More Weight Loss?

Yes….and no. In the University of Scranton study, both the low dose and high dose group lost weight. Due to the small sample size, it is hard to draw conclusions comparing the high dose group to the low dose group, but there did seem to be some advantages in the high dose group. For example, a positive decrease in heart rate was seen in the high dose group.

Of course, taking too much of anything can cause problems. Please do NOT think that taking 2100mg of Green Coffee Bean extract will produce twice the weight loss as taking 1050mg a day. The key to finding the correct dosage is finding the right amount to trigger a response in the body, but not taking more than is needed.

Did Dr Oz Talk About Dosage?

Yes. In his 2012 season premier, Dr Oz suggested that people take 400mg three times a day. He went on to say that the best usage was to take 400mg about 30 minutes before each meal (1200mg a day total).

Based on the Scranton study and the other studies that have been published on Green Coffee Bean, we do agree with Dr Oz and think 400mg, three times a day, 30 minutes before meals, is the best dosage of Green Coffee Bean Extract.

Does that mean every single person will see the best results with 1200mg of Green Coffee Bean Extract a day? No. We believe this is the best starting point, try out 1200mg a day, see how it works and then adjust according to your own body.

What If I Am Sensitive To Caffeine?

In a 400 mg dose (1 capsule) of Pure Green Coffee Bean Extract you will get approximately 8 mg of caffeine. A cup of coffee can have more than 100 mg of caffeine. So, Green Coffee Bean extract is low in caffeine, but if you need to completely avoid all caffeine, Green Coffee Bean extract is not for you.

Will I See Side Effects from Taking Green Coffee Bean Extract?

Excellent question. In fact, it is such a good question that we wrote this whole article on Green Coffee Bean extracts and side effects.
