#GivingTuesday – Save The Rainforest – A Fun, Free Way To Help!

Every holiday season, the Perfect Supplements’ family likes to celebrate our thankfulness with a large annual donation to a variety of charitable organizations that share Our Values of protecting people and planet.

This year we are doing our part to protect the Amazon Rainforest.

The Problem- Logging and Agricultural Expansions Threaten The Rainforest

The Amazon Rainforest has an incredibly rich ecosystem – there are around 40,000 plant species1,300 bird species3,000 types of fish430 mammals and over 2.5 million different insects

The size and ecosystem of the rainforest is so great that more than 20% of the world’s oxygen is produced in the Amazon.

While many people see the Amazon as unoccupied rainforest, there are about 400-500 indigenous tribes that call the Amazon home.

The Loreto and Ucayali Regions are the two largest Amazon regions in Peru and are traditionally occupied and protected by indigenous groups. Unfortunately, hundreds of indigenous communities have no recognized ownership rights and their lands are under tremendous pressure from logging, agro-industries and colonists. Without the titles to their territories, native communities have no legal instrument to defend these lands from activities like logging and agricultural expansion.

The Solution – Provide Land Titles for the Indigenous Communities

Rainforest Trust and local partner Center for the Development of an Indigenous Amazon (CEDIA) seek $4,656,096 to title 220 communities covering more than six million acres in order to legally protect indigenous lands. It is crucial to close the unprotected gaps between indigenous territories to prevent colonists and industries from negatively affecting the integrity of the ecosystems. In addition to granting communities the rights to their land, this will provide protection for Endangered species such as the White-bellied Spider Monkey, Giant Otter and Black-faced Black Spider Monkey.

The Fun, Free Way You Can Protect the Rainforest

#GivingTuesday occurs the Tuesday after Black Friday weekend which is November 27th this year.  This wonderful event is a reminder that the holidays are not just about shopping but also an opportunity to “… celebrate and encourage giving” to people in our communities.

To celebrate #GivingTuesday, for every person that shares a photo of nature, we will make a donation to the Rainforest Trust to protect 6 acres of Rainforest.

From now until 11:59pm PST on #GivingTuesday (11/27) simply share a photo of trees, nature, animals, insects or fruits on social media and tag it with #PerfectNatureShare.

For every photo shared, we will donate enough to secure land titles for 6 acres of the Rainforest.*  That’s right, share a photo and we will do the donating!

But Wait, There’s More Giving We Want to Do…

As products like our Perfect Acai come from the Rainforest, we wanted to give back, even if sharing photos isn’t your thing.

For every order placed between now and the end of the year, we will donate enough to secure land titles for 2 acres of the Rainforest.*

Quickly and Easily Protect 8 Acres of The Rainforest This #GivingTuesday

To recap, if you share a photo of nature with the #PerfectNatureShare tag before 11:59pm PST on 11/27, we will protect 6 acres of Rainforest.

Place an order between now and the end of the year and we will protect 2 acres of  Rainforest.

Want to Do Even More, Visit the Rainforest Trust
