Homemade Chocolate Syrup

I recently gave my boyfriend a container of Perfect Plant Protein. This vegan protein powder is perfect for him because he is a swimmer looking to build and maintain lean muscle.

He loves the ingredients and the amino acid profile, but I made one crucial mistake: I gave him the natural flavored protein. Although this neutral flavor is perfect for many purposes, it simply does not satisfy his sweet tooth. And thus, Homemade Chocolate Syrup is born.

Raw Vegan Chocolate Topping (Does Not Harden)
1 ½ cups of water
1 cup of honey or maple syrup
1 cup of raw cacao
1 tbsp. of Perfect Coconut Oil
1 tbsp. of vanilla extract

Directions: Combine water, sweetener of your choice, and coconut oil in small sauce pan over medium heat. Warm until ingredients begin to simmer. Slowly whisk in raw cacao until smooth. Remove from heat and add vanilla extract. Pour into an airtight container and store in the refrigerator. Shake well before each use.

Store bough chocolate syrup is likely to contain ultra-refined sugars and GMO ingredients such as high-fructose corn syrup. Ditch the nasty artificial ingredients and try this syrup in shakes, smoothies and chocolate milk!
